Masha Hanson
With cultivated knowledge and natural talent, Masha Hanson launched her entrepreneurial pursuit of fashion and is now poised to become a prominent global figure. Masha was born in Minsk, Belarus, to a notable family of artistic and cultural influence. Both of her grandfathers were renowned for their work, one being a famous writer, the other an esteemed sculptor. Masha’s family would move to Moscow in her early childhood years, before relocating to Panama, and then onward to Miami in the United States.
Before receiving her education at Columbia University, Masha deferred for a year and modelled for Elite Model Management in New York City, where she discovered the world of fashion and became forever captivated by its glamour. After 5 years in New York, Masha chose to relocate and settle in London. Here she made inroads with the acquisition of franchises Hervé Léger and BCBG Max Azria in 2009, which both saw escalated public appeal and new stores opening on King’s Road and in Knightsbridge.
In 2010, Masha gave birth to her son, and entered motherhood alongside several business franchises while dividing her time. 2017 saw the rise of 29 Lowndes, Masha’s very own select boutique of luxury fashion brands catered to discerning local and international clientele.
Outside of work, Masha is an avid painter and enjoys working with oil, acrylic and various other mediums. Masha’s lifelong passion for painting has also allowed her to apply hobbyist taste and education to her profession and segue into art directing with great success.
Ivy league-educated and multi-lingual, she studied Philosophy and Art History at Columbia University and speaks, reads and writes five languages fluently: English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian.
When she isn’t busy looking after her young son, or spotting the next big fashion trend, Masha has extensive philanthropic responsibilities. She has the great honour of acting as co-chair of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and promotes the amfAR charity amongst several other charitable endeavours.
Testament to her inherent business acumen, Masha has established a successful career in London, having moved to the city in 2009.
In this year, after spotting an opportunity to revise the Hervé Léger brand in the UK, Masha acquired the franchise and the following year acquired the franchise for BCBG Max Azria. Masha was instrumental in setting up the Max Azria flagship store on the Kings Road, as well as the Léger store in Knightsbridge.
She continued to run the two franchises successfully for seven years and pursued a bold new venture when she set up 29 Lowndes in 2017.
29 Lowndes is a select boutique based in Knightsbridge. As the sole investor in the business, Masha plays a fundamental role, demonstrating her full range of polymathic talents by styling and art directing all the boutique’s fashion ventures.
Masha also curates its entire buying range herself and has brought several under-the-radar designers to London for the very first time, including Alexandre Vauthier, Redemption, Alexander Terekhov and Francesco Scognamiglio.
In addition, Masha serves as a consultant to several fashion brands helping artistic and creative directions as well as business and development strategies.
Along her journey, she has collected a loyal and diverse clientele, encompassing celebrities, influencers and even royalty. Inspired by her great ambitions for the boutique, she has plans to expand the range and increase its geographical reach.
With a truly global customer base, Masha’s linguistic dexterity helps her clients to feel at ease.
